Hey Lovelies! Happy Tuesday to ya!
Sadly jet lag is wrecking havoc on my body. I was up at 3:30 this morning.
Lying in bed with zero sleepies in your mind is dumb. So I kissed Hubs and took off for Wal-Mart to complete my unfinished shopping list from yesterday.
Oh yes. I also ate a bowl of Fruit Loops that I had been craving ALL.NIGHT.LONG.
Amazing how much you can get done in the middle of the night, no?!
In other random news, my computer charger cord went up in smoking ruins yesterday.
This means my last pictures from China and the awesome shopping stuffs will have to wait a few more days.
{cursed $60 replacement charger.}
Until then, here's part three on why I blog from, which I scribbled in the Beijing airport.
xoxo

Anyone who has known me long enough to learn my name, knows that I try to live with a glass half full attitude.

{except on those days. . .ya know?!}
Yet one of my biggest hopes in blogging is that this Lookbook would be a place of honest transparency. A place where we aren't afraid to be real. A place where those horrible, hard moments in life can be shared. A place that acknowledges that sometimes life sucks, but God is still good.
Blogging can easily become a game of comparisons.
Like why can't I take amazing outfit photos like her?
Or have a rocket-growth readership like her?
Or why can't we have money to do all our house projects like them?
Or indulge in frequent world travels like these triple sisters?
Or have her carefree, adorable style?
The game goes on and on until we run ourselves into a mad fury.
Oh that we would embrace our weaknesses.
Celebrate our strengths.
Thank God for the gifts He daily loads us with.
This is where we can find peace.
Deep in our hearts.
Shattering the glass walls that often are built around people is one of the reasons I started the Friday Files. They are the posts where optimism and love-struck delight are temporarily placed on the shelf. To honestly share from our week. From those longs debates Hubs and I have over how to properly make the bed to our financial struggles to everything in between.
Then I invite you to join with us. Because always flowing over, around and through it the pure goodness of God. And that is what we truly celebrate.
Thank you for posting this. It was extremely necessary for me to read!

ReplyDeleteWhile reading this, the thought came to my mind that someday, when Nicole Neesby is a well-read Christian author, I will be able to say that I knew her back then... when we connected through our common experiences in China, and then in our dating/engaged/newlywed experiences. Wish I were better about staying in touch, but I love being connected through your blog. I know God has a great future for you, and I can't help believing that writing is going to be an important part of it. Love you!

You have a gift for words! Perhaps your brave boldness in sharing real life truths will inspire me to add a little more to my own blog! And be grateful for my own wonderful life and family. I love how you said that life sometimes sucks but that God is still good.
ReplyDeleteromantic. nice blogs
ReplyDeleteI love this post! I also sometimes find myself comparing other bloggers to myself - and we shouldn't do it! Everyone has different talents and things that make them great in their own way.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!

This post just rang so true with me and made me feel so much better about my tiny corner of the web.
ReplyDeleteIt is hard sometimes to be honest on a blog but it can be so rewarding and I shouldn't forget that...and as Jenna and you said we don't need to compare ourselves to each other, we all have different things to offer.
{P.S. Thank you so much for your comment on my blog...made me very happy, especially as it led me to your blog!}
