10. Pack you own lunches. Yo! Do you know how much money this can save you?! Especially if you pack crackers and water.
9. Get Netflix. What?! You say this is costs more money? People. Seven dollars and ninety-nine cents a month for unlimited movies and shows takes you much further than renting movies from your local Block Buster. True story.
8. Buy household items that are non-perishable in bulk. Our huge pack of toilet paper and oversized bottle of dish soap lasted for months.
7. Eat dinner before you go on date night. Then go out for dessert. Unless of course you order the most expensive, queenly dessert on the menu. Then you better stay home all together.
6. For those of us who are blessed to live in cold winter climates, keep your thermostat lower most of the day. Why keep your house toasty while you are at work all day? Or when you can cuddle under a heap of blankets at night?
5. Be creative with date night. Go to Barnes and Noble. Sit in the children's section. Read each other your favorite books. Rent a Redbox movie Use your Netflix and watch a movie with pizza and coke. It's ok to have cheap dates sometimes. Just never stop dating.
4. Engage in lots of free fun together. Like jumping off bridges with balloons. Or playing loud singing games will you drive.
{ok. this is just plain fun. even though it has nothing to do with money. . .}
3. Try to do as many things at once as possible. Like brushing your teeth and doing the laundry.
You will be saving time and money.
Because time is money.
2. Kiss as frequently and as long as possible. This boosts your immune system.
Which in turn lowers your medical expenses.
1. Shower with a friend. . .
This not only saves water.
But it saves time and money.
Because time is money.

Now it's your turn to shoot me your best,
most tried and true methods of saving money, kay?!
Readysetgo.

well this is one the most wonderful lists I have ever seen. true story on the netflix thing!! I don't even pay for cable anymore because I can watch almost everything on netflix. booya!
ReplyDeleteAND, if you already own a Wii, you can watch AS MUCH Netflix as you want for FREE! :)
ReplyDeletehaha love #1! That's my husbands favorite way of saving money too. Only usually we end up being in there longer than two individual showers....
ReplyDeleteAnd I have to add to the pizza and movie thing - make your own pizza! it's WAY cheaper! and at least for us, we've mastered pizza making town to a ''z'' so it tastes way better too.
one of my best saving money tips is buying things used off of craigslist and doing a little diy to make them super awesome as opposed to buying them new. Pinterest has given me 10 millions ideas fo real. I loved this list, especially the eat before date night part, my hunger often causes me to spend too much money out.
ReplyDeleteLove # 1 as well, but make it a husband ;)
ReplyDeleteI would add throwout the TV. Most shows you can watch on Hulu.com or the channels website for free (yes, a day or week behind, but it's free)
Also, cooking at home is cheaper than eating out plus, you have leftovers for lunch and freezing for later meals, because, time is money.....
Great Blog!
I am so glad you found my blog so I could find yours! Love yout blog & am so happy I am not following you! Your pictures are so cute! This post is really funny, number 1 is especailly my favorite ! I look forward to reading more from you!

#5 speaks to my heart! So does #1... except my shower buddy wasn't the hubby today, it was my one year old! :)
ReplyDeletehaha I love this! I agree with the shower together! =)
ReplyDeleteokay i am seriously cracking up at number one!! totally jeal you are married..hehe
ReplyDeletegreat ideas! Especially the part about eating before date night and just getting dessert :-)
ReplyDeleteoh and have you heard of Hulu.com? We stopped using cable bc it was just to expensive, so the very next day we can watch most of our shows on Hulu, like the bachelor, greys, ect.....and hulu now has a section where they have movies so you can get your occasional lifetime movie fix there :-)
Loove this list - especially all of the kissing and cuddling parts :)
ReplyDeleteWe often do the dessert instead of dinner thing - or if it's the afternoon we will just go for coffee instead of lunch.
xoxo
Jenna
lol...thanks for this!
ReplyDeleteso next time i'm bored i'm gonna be like, "hey husband, let's work on lowering our medical bills." if you know what i mean...
ReplyDeleteI am laughing out loud!
ReplyDeleteOurs:
We've been eating in more--but trying to keep things fun by trying new recipes and getting ingredients from the Asian market: cheap AND exotic!*Dessert dates: check.*No Netflix: we borrow movies from the library! (recent change)*Lately we've been reading a kids' book of Viking myths before bed. Crazy stuff--very entertaining.*We share a car. Inconvenient, but on the plus side it keeps me from going shopping when I have free time during the week (car's at work with Hubby).
Have you got a copy of "The Spend Less Handbook" by Rebecca Ash? It's got lots of great tips, we saved a bundle. And if you couple what she says with tips from "The Green Book" the savings get larger! My husband and I love both these books :)
ReplyDeleteHa I love this! My hub and I used to do the barnes and noble date all the time! Why is that so much fun? Great ideas girlie!!!
ReplyDeleteJenna
Ah I love this. I have been on a money saving kick lately. It needed to be done. So, thank you. Much appreciated.
ReplyDeletecute cute cuuuttteee photo. I keep my thermostat down REAL low.
ReplyDeletepacking your own lunch is a big one for me, even making my own coffee! you don't realize how much you spend until you average it all out :)
ReplyDeleteThese are all great tips, ESPECIALLY the last one. Mike and I save water on a daily basis. ;)
ReplyDeleteGreat list... I love the last one teehee. So true about Netflix. We have it instead of cable or satellite and we save a ton and we make more time for each other.
ReplyDeleteLove & Lollies... Jessa
Confessions of the Cupcake Countessa
This is such a great list! Love the humor thrown in there too. And Netflix all the way, I love movie nights in for free!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! It's really those little things that can make a difference!

I loved this list it made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteCooking together saves money, is fun and gives you way more time together and I am so proud when we cook something that is amazing.
Having a bottle of wine in is also something we do quite a lot, light some candles, put some music on and just chat--its like being kind of in a really comfy bar where you can hear each other.
Here, in London, you can also save money by having a day at a museum as loads of them are free--learn something new and have a great day out, perfect!
great post!!! I totally agree about netflix too.
ReplyDeleteThis was so great! I love to hear that other couples have cheap dates as well! Sometimes my friends wonder why we always try to go the cheap route, but it just feels so much better knowing we didn't spend money that we didn't have to! Thanks for this post! Loved the humor :)
ReplyDeleteI likey. Especially number two... :D
ReplyDeletewe showered together every shower since getting married until Maeve was old enough to crawl around =) oh those were the days.
ReplyDeleteThis post made me so happy - and I'm happy you're so happy!!
