Blogging Walls Are Dumb

Happy weekend one and all!

My three younger sisters are spending the night with us because our parents are celebrating their twenty-seventh anniversary.  We are currently making a whole lot of homemade pizza.  Husband is teaching Aubrey card tricks.  Justin Beiber 'Official Music' videos are what's playing on the computer.  And there is girl stuff strewn around the house.  God bless Husband.

I want to pop in quickly and share something on my heart.

Have I mentioned that blogging is a funny thing?!  Yes, I think I have and I probably will say it another 27 times.  I honestly believe that blogging can be the best and worst thing that can happen to you.  Best because of all the wonderful people you meet, things you learn and growth you can experience in your personal life.  Worst because it can bring out a lot of ugliness from deep inside.  Stuff like comparison and jealous.

Here's something that I have noticed in my journey.  Why is it that there are so many segregating lines in the blogging circles?  Why can Miss-I-Have-12937432-Followers email back and forth, talk on the phone, collaborate on blog projects and overall become BFF's with Miss-I-Also-Have-19204832-Followers.  While Miss-I've-Been-Blogging-For-2-Years-And-Have-79-Followers only gets to be part of her respective circle.

Now I realize that the bigger one's blog grows, the less time one has to spread around.  You just can't be best friends with everyone.  But wouldn't it be a beautiful thing to see a larger scale blogger partner up with someone who is just starting?!  Wouldn't it be a beautiful thing to be able to email a question to your favorite bloggy-celebrity and actually be able to get a response back.

My heart is to be that as I continue on this bloggy adventure.  I want to break down the walls of follower/pageview segregation.  I want the floodgates of communication and love to be able to flow freely no matter where you are in your journey.  I want to be able to travel to Kansas or Texas or Canada and be able to hang out with you no matter how big or little of a 'celebrity' you may be.
I want true love, not rank or status to be the driving force.

So that being said. . . I really love you all.  You are special.  And I'm super blessed to know you.  Mwwauuh!

  3. it's frustrating that the blogging world kind of mirrors real life... though at least in some ways it does break down real life barriers.

I feel like part of it is spiritual and part of it is where each of us is at in our journey that somehow comes through in our blogs. I think you would really appreciate this article I read today:
    http://michaelhyatt.com/live-your-dream.html

it resonated very strongly with what I have been feeling for a while now, and had hinted at in my little intro on your girls party day. it is so, SO hard, though, not to get discouraged!!! and that reminds me that I need to reply to your email =)

  4. Amen! I want to be the same way. I know I wouldn't be able to befriend and help every single blogger that reaches out to me, but if each one reaches out to two or three or five...it could be awesome. I hope that if I ver get to that "level", that I can have the time energy and love to reach out. Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed hearing your heart! =)

  5. It truly is a strange and wonderful beast...but please know that your heart is in a perfectly right place. You have opened up space for someone like me to build confidence in discovering and owning my blogging voice. Thank you.

  6. I like sharing life, experiences and ideas. I like reading others' blogs and I love interacting through comments. I get inspired and interested with blogs that make sense, like what I've just read now (yours).

You are right, it's a funny thing. Blogs can either inspire, bring people together or derive jealousy and envy from others. I think it depends on the readers how they choose to be affected by ones blog. :)

  7. LOVE THIS. I've always told myself that if I EVER have a lot of blog followers, I'll help promote those just starting.

  12. Thank you for writing this! I definitely feel the segregation sometimes. And the jealousy. Thank you for saying this out loud. And I love that idea of blog partners/friends. Keep on blogging!
