Our State Fair

I love fair exhibits.  Except the floriculture, of course.  Sorry floriculturists! **
I love fair food.  Naturally.
I love the fair atmosphere.
I love fair shows.
I love fair eye candy.  Aka colorful rides, colorful food trucks, and so forth.

When it comes down to it, I just really love a good fair.

So when the famous Iowa State Fair time rolls around every August, it's a win-win-win in my book.  This year we were lucky enough to spend the whole day with my little sisters and unfortunately had a rather failed attempt at also hanging out with some of our good friends from different parts of the state.  This would be where you imagine twelve people hunting each other down through the thousands of fair-goers for a solid three hours with little to no success.  Hashtagnotwinning

Moving on. . . now here's a bit of eye candy for you, from our day at the fair.  And in case you haven't noticed, I tend to geek out when it comes to pictures at these kinds of things.  You can usually find me with my DSLR camera in one hand and my handy Iphone in the other.

^^ The Monster Arm Wrestling Competition was freakishly intense and awesome all at the same time.  Only in the Redneck Midwest would you find such a treasure trove of entertainment. . . ^^
^^ Seriously people.  Stop.  Our hearts are begging you. ^^
^^ This one is an exact replica of me fourteen and a half years ago ^^
 ^^ We thought the matching tattoos were a nice touch . . . ^^

** And how did I just figure out tonight that is's floriculturists, not florTIculturists like I always thought?!  {Props to Spellcheck}  I feel kind of disappointed as florTIculturists is so much funner to say.

*** I think it's also worthwhile to note that this post could have been titled '101 Ways To Work The Word Fair Into Every Sentence In This Post'. . .

  1. Ok. your blog is adorable. I'm so glad you stopped by and I was able to come see that juicy little Emmett! Can't wait to follow along!

  2. I love the fair!! Sadly we have not made it to ours yet..and I'm pretty sure it's over now! Boo! :(

  3. I do believe we both are in love with the fair. There is just something about it that gets me...especially the food. :) Love you blog and can't wait to meet your little guy.

  4. Hey so my parents totally lived in Washington, IA up til a couple months ago! So close to Iowa City! Crazy. I've been out that way so many times - even though Chicago is my home city!
