5 Quick Workouts For Busy Moms

Okay.  It's officially time for me to stop making excuses about why I can't workout.

Thanksgiving is over.
My birthday is over.
Christmas is over.
New Year's is over.
My baby is almost 9 weeks old.

Tomorrow is today -- actually yesterday.  I've been putting it off way too long.  But if you are like me -- mama or not -- it's hard to get to the gym.  It's hard to get outside to run when it's -25 below zero.  It's hard to find time when I'm juggling this busy day to day life with two babies.

Let's be honest.  Exercise is straight up hard for me.  But my body needs me to be healthy and active.  My babies need me to be healthy.  My husband needs me to be hot for him --actually he loves me just the way I am.  I need to be hot for him. haha
So I have decided to just do a little every day.  Eat a little healthier everyday.  Work a little harder at getting active.  And since I figure there are probably some of you who struggle with this too, I thought I would share 5 of my favorite, super quick workouts to kick our rears in gear.

Here's what I love about these 5 workout routines.  

1//  I love that they are super quick.  Each one is no more than 15 minutes.  If I want a longer workout, I can mix and match for more of a challenge.

2//  I love that they are living-room-friendly.  No equipment needed!

3//  I love that these are chock full of cardio which is so good for my heart and for burning off that leftover baby fluff that is trying to get a little too cozy around here. 

So whether you are a mama like me, or busy with school, work, ministry, whatever.  Here is a great way we can challenge ourselves to get moving even for just 15 minutes a day.  And hey, I'm not going to pretend that I don't have to 'tend to the babies' at the hardest points of the workouts, but I figure at least I'm starting somewhere. haha

PS.  I decided last week that I am going to sign up for a half marathon in May.  AHHHH!  I'm so scared!  Thirteen miles is so intense and I am not that kind of intense.  But I figure if my cute 13-year-old sister can do it, I can too.  Have you run a half or full marathon?!  If so, I'd love all your tips, secrets or encouragement.  


  1. I don't have any secrets or tips about long-distance running, so encouragement it is: go you for being ambitious! You can do this! And thanks for these cardio ideas. I'm with you on the "out of excuses" thing. :)

    And in the past year I'd added fitness to the important things in my life. It feels so good to do it!!
    And I wish we could run the half together. I want to do a half this year, but don't have a running buddy. So far I'm up to ten miles - and that is coming from someone who could not even run 1/2 mile a year ago!! I'm the most surprise of all!! I downloaded a 5k training app to my phone and began from there - LOVED it. Way to go with being mommy AND being fit. I know that takes lots of extra effort. xoxo
