Mini Bear Claw Mittens // DIY

I love unique clothing pieces and accessories for my little guys, so when I saw this adorable photo on Instagram, I knew I had to make some little bear claw mittens for Gideon right away.  How can you not love a teeny little bear cub?!!

The best part?! This whole project takes less than 15 minutes so you can get a pair made while your baby sleeps!  And if you do, be sure to share your photos with me. I wanna see your baby bears!

Happy sewing!

Supplies //
1 piece of craft fur
grey felt
sewing pen
scissors
pins
thin elastic // optional

1// Cut 2-3"x 8" pieces of craft fur and then cut each piece in half, lengthwise.  Cut 6-1"x3/4" rectangles from the grey felt and trim those pieces to triangles.   Match pairs of craft fur, right sides together.  Using a disappearing sewing pen, trace a rounded edge on one side of each set of fur.

2 & 3 // Place 3 triangles between the fur, pointed side in and secure everything with pins.  Be sure the wide edges of the 'claws' are almost touching.

4// Carefully sew along the edge of the fur rectangles, being sure to secure the 'claws' with the line of stitching.  Trim the rounded edge with sharp scissors and turn right sides out.

Note // These measurements made perfect fitting gloves for 3-month-old Gideon.  If you need a tighter fit, you could stitch in a small piece of elastic to create a cinched side of the mittens.
