Our Kitchen // A Tour

Our kitchen has been a long, slow work in progress but I thought it would be fun to document where we are at right now.

Before Emmett was born, we painted the generic brown cupboards a very dark grey.  We also chose to make all the upper cabinets open shelving.  Eventually I want to add some crown molding on top and put in a few extra levels of shelving.  But I am so thankful for the facelift we have already been able bring to the room!

One of my favorite parts of this kitchen is the antique open shelf that was probably part of the original kitchen from decades ago.  We painted the inside of the shelves black to balance out both sides of the kitchen. I also love the hanging lights over the sink that my sweet father-in-law installed a few years ago. That man is a freaking building genius when it comes to remodeling. I feel so so blessed!
^^ this calendar journal is one of the best goals i have keeping so far in 2015!! ^^
But of course my total favorite part are the shelves I installed Adam put above the fridge just a week before Gideon was born.  It literally felt like the last piece to bring the entire kitchen together.  Though I can't take credit for the idea . . . check out the beautifully curated shelves that inspired ours here.

The meal table is one of the best things to bring people together so I'm grateful to have a beautiful, sunny spot to do that.

  2. So cute and cozy! I love it! What year was your house built? Our previous house was built in 1910 and all of the character in it was so much fun!
