Suddenly I found myself regretting walking past all those lemonade stands and little sidewalk sales and anything else that little kids were selling in my naive pre-baby days. All I could see was my own little Emmett all grown up and trying to earn just a few dollars himself and knowing 97% of the cars that drove past wouldn't have even five minutes or cents to spare. Motherhood has a funny way of changing every fiber of who you are.
That is why I present to you a chance to stop and support a virtual lemonade stand. . . not for me, but for the daughter of one of my sweetest friends. Andrea was my high school English teacher and we bonded over a love of the written word and theatrical performances. A few years ago, she took a short mission trip to Guatemala, fell in love and the rest is history. After lots of prayer and talking it through with their three girls, Andrea and her husband, Mark, decided to sell all their stuff and move to Guatemala to teach, serve and share Jesus with the people there. I cannot even tell you how much my heart has swelled as I watched them walk through that process. Our world needs more families like theirs. Those who are willing to drop all and chase after the spread of the Gospel.
// you can read more from her on this trip at the end of the post // You guys. I present to you a virtual lemonade stand. A chance for us to rally around a girl who has willing set aside a comfortable, predictable life in America so that more people can know Jesus. Naturally I want to come alongside and do whatever I can to help make something special happen for her as well.
As you know, I am very careful to protect this little online space because I value your friendship and the time you take to visit and read what I write. But this is something that I value so much. I believe that those who are purposefully living on mission, those who are living outside of a comfortable predictable life, should be supported in an extra special way.
Go Fund Me page here and give a $5 gift. What if 100 of us each gave $5?! Because let's be honest. . . it's not like we didn't spend that several times over last week on treats and coffee alone. Maybe a few would be compelled to give more. . . could we together knock out her goal to raise the last of her trip expenses?!
And because I love you and want to help give you a little incentive to give, for everyone who gives $5, you will be entered to win a $80 Target gift card. And if you're honest, isn't that every girl's dream. . . more free Target spending money?! haha
Each additional $5 gift will be another entry. Just leave a comment with how many times you entered. Also please play fair because the winning entry will be verified!! Thank you thank you thank you for helping me to make this happen. I wouldn't ask if I didn't adore these people so much and want to show them an outpouring of love and support. Because let's be honest, I have the sweetest most supportive community here on Today Is My Favorite and I want to share the love. Happy Sunday, friends!! XO
Hello! My name is Rachel Farrier and I’m a freshman at Inter-American Schoolin Quetzaltenango, Guatemala. Recently, my team's website won first place in our category in the regional National History Fair competition in Guatemala City, which allows us to advance to the national competition in Washington, D.C.
Our trip to D.C. will cost around $2,500, which is a lot for anyone, especially a missionary family. That’s why I’m asking for your help. In order to pay for our trip, I’m doing fundraising, and I’d like to ask you to pray about assisting me in getting to National History Fair in June.
If you feel led to support me, I thank you profusely. If you don’t feel as though you are supposed to fund me, that’s fine as well, and I ask that you pray for me to receive the funds necessary in order to be able to attend the competition. If you’d like to find out more about our family and our ministry in Guatemala, feel free to check out our website.
Giving is safe and easy - just click the link below to make a donation via GoFundMe. Thank you very much for your prayers and consideration. I really do appreciate it!
